About Us

Education helps us mature, prosper, and develop our individuality. It is our responsibility as a community to ensure that, generations to come understand not only their past, but also their present, so that they can successfully create their own future.

Repeated funding cuts to education have created the necessity to finance essential expenses previously covered by government grants. As a community, we recognised the need to help, and thus created “Taste and Tradition”, a fundraising event that showcases cuisine and music from various regions of Greece.

Last year’s première of “Taste and Tradition” was attended by 1500 people and truly exceeded our expectations. All food and entertainment were provided by volunteers ensuring that the entire proceeds were donated to the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal schools.

Inspired by last year’s success, the Taste and Tradition Organising Committee has grown to include even more associations and volunteers. Thirty seven local organisations and associations are participating in this year’s event. Our goal is an attendance of 2500 guests. The event will take place on January 29, 2017, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm, at the Château Royal. The reception hall, the wait staff, and the food-service accessories for the event have all been generously donated by the owner, Mr. Bill Zanis. Everyone will surely enjoy a taste of Greek food, music, and dancing.

Moreover, with the Royal Bank of Canada as the main sponsor, our extensive marketing programme reaches out beyond the Greek community of the greater Montreal area, ensuring the success of the event, while underlining the importance of preserving our schools for future generations in Quebec society.

I look forward to seeing all of you on January 29.

Sincerely,

Tassos Xipolitkais
